Neiman Group Helps Hershey Celebrate Founder's 150th Birthday
HARRISBURG, PA (September 13, 2007) - Neiman Group was proud to partner with the M.S. Hershey Foundation and its planning committee to design a remarkable celebration for Milton Hershey's 150th birthday, September 13, 2007. Highlights of the day included a moving time-capsule ceremony, featuring mementos of life in Hershey circa 2007. The capsule will be opened on Mr. Hershey's 200th birthday in 2057. The ceremony ended with a moment of silence at exactly 1:50 p.m., to commemorate 150 years.
In the evening, Derry Township's Founders Park set the scene for a family-friendly birthday bash that included music, food and fun for all ages. At dusk, an estimate 6,000 attendees made history with their flashlights aimed skyward to spell out the illuminated words, "Thank You." Neiman Group created the letters on a 300-foot soccer field, using 2,000 feet of rope and more than 100 ground stakes in coordination with 1,500 flashlights donated by Capital BlueCross. It was truly a sight to behold! An aerial photograph and video from a hot air balloon captured the dramatic moment for future generations, and a fantastic fireworks show provided a breathtaking finale to remember. Happy birthday, Mr. Hershey!
